Famous Children’s book illustrator and authoress, Fran Evans, recently visited the school. The visit was the prize won by Mrs. Harley and Class Four for winning an art/poetry competition.
Ms. Evans has written and illustrated her own books as well as collaborating with such writers as Sophie Allsop, Stella Gurney, Olive Dyer, Val Scurlock and Cerys Matthews.
Pictures are of Class Four learning a little about what being a successful illustrator entails.
She showed the class some of her work and they then took part in a workshop designing a book cover. She ended the visit by demonstrating water-colour painting by reproducing the front cover of one of her books.
The Friends of St Teilo’s were delighted to report a record breaking sum of £1000 raised at the event. As well as the usual ice-creams, teas/coffee stalls, there were many fun games and activities for the children to take part in. Year 6 did a great job in providing some novel ways of raising money! Mrs Nichols, Acting Head Teacher is pictured after taking part in one of the “pie in the face” games! Well done Mrs Nichols.Follow TwitTeilos
St Teilo’s pupils, family and staff enjoyed a warm and sunny sports day last week. Many spectators came along to watch all the children compete. This year it was St Theresa’s (Red) team that took the Gold, coming first with 94 points. This was followed by the Blue team, Our Lady’s with 87 points and St Joseph (Green) team with 79 points.
Many thanks to all those who contributed to such a successful and enjoyable day. A special thank you also to the past pupils from Greenhill who came along to help and did a splendid job in officiating.
