The sands of time are running out for the central star of this the Hourglass Nebula. With its nuclear fuel exhausted, this brief, spectacular, closing phase of a sun-like star's life occurs as its outer layers are ejected and its core becomes a cooling, fading white dwarf. In 1995, astronomers used the Hubble Space Telescope to make a series of images of planetary nebulae, including the one above. Here, delicate rings of colorful glowing gas (nitrogen-red, hydrogen-green, and oxygen-blue) outline the tenuous walls of the 'hourglass.' The unprecedented sharpness of Hubble's images revealed surprising details of the nebula ejection process and may resolve the outstanding mystery of the variety of complex shapes and symmetries of planetary nebulae. On Friday February 28th St Teilo’s school celebrated St David’s Day by holding the annual Eisteddfod.A range of competitions took place prior to the Friday including: Art, Creative Writing, Limericks, Poems, Acrostic Poems and Photography. The many entries in each of the categories were all adjudicated by external judges and going into the performance day only 13 points separated the three houses, namely; St.Theresa’s (Blue), St Joseph’s (Green) and Our Lady’s (Red). In the morning the Juniors (Years 3,4, and 5) took to the stage for a collection of group and individual competitions including; solo singing, recitation and instrumental performances and group singing, recitation and House Choirs.
The hall was packed with parents, family and friends who really supported the children and enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere.
Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell of Saundersfoot once again had the very difficult job of judging the competitions and the school is very grateful for the time and effort they spent throughout the day.
In the afternoon it was the turn of the Infants (Early Years, Years 1 and 2). The programme combined the same range of competitions as the morning with the addition of Welsh Folk Dancing.
Once again the hall was packed and as the children surprised and delighted all present with their accomplishments, more than a few tears were shed in the audience!
The afternoon came to a climax with the Welsh Folk Dancing where children danced in houses across the age range ably accompanied by Mrs. Blackledge on her accordion.
The most popular competition for staff was, as always the Welsh cake competition which had a record number of entries this year. The overall winner was Olivia from Class 2.
At the end of the day the points were counted and the winner was the Red house followed by the Green house finally the Blue house, though it was very close.
Well done to all the children and a big thank you to all staff, especially Mrs. Blackledge, to all the judges, especially Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell, to ‘Friends’ for providing refreshments and finally to all the parents, family and friends who supported the children so well.

The girl’s netball team played seven matches, won two and lost five, however this was most encouraging as it was largely a very young team. Well done all!
Seminarian, Liam Bradley, from the Venerable English College in Rome, chats with Class Four.
The Venerable English College is a seminary in Rome for the formation of priests for the dioceses of England and Wales.
The Venerable English College exists to prepare men to serve as priests in England and Wales. It provides an environment in which seminarians can live the spirituality of a diocesan priest over several years and so discern if this is their calling. The College offers a home to a small number of priests pursuing further studies as well.
The seminary was founded in 1579, and there has been an English presence on the site in Via di Monserrato since the establishment of the Hospice of St Thomas in 1362, making it the oldest English institution outside England.
