News from St. Teilo’s School
1.Music Exam Success
A number of pupils recently took grade exams on their respective instruments and achieved great success. Grade 3 Clarinet –Merit, Grade 2 French Horn-Distinction, Grade 3 Trombone-Pass and Grade 1 Piano-Pass.
2.Pembrokeshire Schools’ Music Festival
On Saturday the 8th May St. Teilo’s School had the best set of results ever from this year’s competition held at St. Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest. Well done to all the competitors for achieving the following success: Open Piano – Highly Commended, Grade 2 Piano- 1st, and Grade 3 Woodwind-1st and a 2nd place, Grade 3 Brass- 1st, and Grade 2 Brass 2nd. For the first time the St. Teilo’s Brass Trio entered the Ensemble competition and played extremely well.
The children would like to thank Mrs Hilary Lewis, Dr Stuart Evans and Mrs Janis Hartzell for preparing them so well.

3.St. David’s Cathedral Choir
Brothers travelled with the choir to Liverpool as guests of the Metropolitan Cathedral. The choir master at the Metropolitan used to be the master at St David's Cathedral and wished to establish a link between the two choirs. Their visit lasted from Tuesday April13th to Friday the 16th and during that time they sang an evensong and an informal concert. Whilst in Liverpool, they went to Anfield and had a guided tour, went across the Mersey on a ferry, went to see 'How to train your dragon' at the pictures. A fabulous time was had by all.
4.Race for life
Well done to some of the puplils of Year1, of Year 3 and of Year 4 for successfully taking part in the recently held ‘Race for Life’ raising much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
5.Blue Peter Badge
Pictured is a pupil of Year 3 proudly showing her ‘Blue Peter Badge’ which she won for her Art competition entry – ‘Design a room in a box.’ Well done!
6.Skiing Awards
In April four pupils all worked extremely hard to achieve their respective Skiing awards; the Ourson badge, 1 star,2 star and a Bronze level. They all did fantastically well, one can now use a button lift by herself, whilst the other three were successfully negotiated red and black runs with their instructors.
7. 2010 Tri Golf festival
The 2010 Tri Golf festival was recently held at Trefloyne Golf Club, Penally. St Teilo’s sent a very experienced team who kept their cool to secure tremendous success. One pupil won the Boy’s competition, One pupil won the Girl’s competition and St. Teilo’s School won the overall competition.
8.Swimming News
Recently two pupils have been very busy swimming for both their club, Tenby Dolphins and as individual entrants in recently held open competitions. They have been very successful and are pictured with their trophies.One pupil recently passed Stage 3 of the ASA swimming award scheme whilst anorther recently completed the ‘Ducklings ‘Learn to Swim programme. Well done to you all!
